Lillian knew that she wasn't likely to find shelter in the ruins, but that was not why she was there. There were several buildings that she was on the lookout for and had no reason to believe that most of the supplies she was looking for would be important enough to most others to have scavenged. In this case she was looking for maps, though not the kind most thought of even though she would settle for them if they couldn't find anything else. No, she was looking for the ones that most people couldn't read. Anything ranging from topographic to a resource map to a utilities map to any sort of natural map. It was the latter she was really hoping for, but she could infer from others and observations.
Government buildings were the most likely to have these, and the government had always been so redundant that there would be paper copies. Possibly several based on the size of this city and maybe even several in several locations. Still, she chose the ruins because it wold have the highest density of the buildings she was looking for. It also gave her a better chance of finding some of the other things she was on the lookout for. Whatever remained of buildings like city hall and the post office would not contain much that most people would think of to survive on.
Actually, the idea of staying in a city with everything going on seemed rather ludicrous. She supposed the fact that most had died was a good enough explanation as to why it was working though. No, she thought she saw a prison on her way in and was looking to eventually clear that out and make it her home. she would have scouted it out before, but saw more walkers than she was prepared to try and deal with at the moment. No, right now she was more worried about a feeling she was getting. It was one she had learned to trust. She had seen or heard something she hadn't consciously noticed and her mind was warning her about it. What she did know was that it was no walker. No, this was a person she had to worry about. She guessed she was being followed and figured that with her white hair and clothing that she wasn't hard to miss. That was what made sneaking up on people all the more amusing. Let them figure out how they missed her.

"You tell me not to stay. Run away. Oh, I say a little prayer and then I cry. I'm running out of hope and you've run out of time. I say goodbye~" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Seth had found himself lurking about once again for some supplies to help him get by. It seemed that not everything was as easy to come by as it had been in the past. When things were normal it was just a trip to the store away. For him, it consisted of a short drive away and he could get a snack or run an errand for someone in his family if they were too ill to go out shopping. It wasn’t always convenient for him when his family seemed to need things, but it was what family did for one another. They would sacrifice their time for one another.
It was so ironic though how everything changed so drastically. Normally, he would have seen himself fighting for his family. Heck, back in high school he had remembered joking around with some friends that if the apocalypse happened that he would be the bravest, strongest, and most loyal to his loved ones. He said that he would protect them at all costs. Ha! That was a laugh! Heck, those were the days actually! It wasn’t a joking matter anymore. It had all become a reality years of time after he had said that. The worst thing about it though was that he had been far too late to save his own family. They were long gone now and there was nothing he could have done to get them back. He was a failure in his own eyes and he loathed his own existence for not being able to protect them.
What came after that had been unthinkable heart break. He had lost everything most precious to him and ended up all alone in the world. He had no one to depend on. He had no way to contact friends and find them. He had no idea who he could call on. It had frightened him to the point where he had joined a group in the past. He had thought that there was more safety in numbers. In the end, it seemed that you even had to fear for your life within the group. One single cough or sign that you were sick and you would instantly find yourself alienated and eventually cast off or slaughtered. It was a very cruel fate and seeing that humans could mercilessly slaughter their own kind in that group terrified him to his very core. It was quite cruel and one of the most scarring things he had first seen when the apocalypse broke out.
Heh, well if anything was right from what he said in the past, he figured that he was strong since he was still alive even up to this point. He didn’t think he was really all that brave at all. Sure, he could fight past some zombies and make it out if he got them one or two at a time. However, he still felt far too weak. He felt deep down in his heart that he was honestly nothing more than a coward that wanted to run away and end it all. It was his determination and strong will that kept him from committing suicide like many others of his kind had done. Killing yourself was just running away from your problems. Sure, things got difficult and hard to manage, but it was no excuse to just abandon everyone! Everyone else was suffering from the same fate and problems too. If anything, he wanted to use his life to help everyone else. He wanted to give his life to help another. After all, if he couldn’t protect his own family he could use it to protect another.
It was almost hilarious how fate worked. It seemed that his father had been right. He would have been more useful as a doctor. That was what his father wanted him to study. Seth was a very bright boy and knew a lot about the field already, but his heart hadn’t really been in that field in the past. He had gone into game developing and graphic design. He loved working with computers and computing formulas and coding different things. All of that seemed to be useless knowledge now up to this point. Deep down, he wished he had listened to his father. Maybe then he could have helped a lot more people. It was times like these that he honestly wanted to help save more lives. However, he was only one person, so he could only really do so much to help people.
On his hunt through buildings and houses for resources he had ended up catching on to someone’s presence. He wondered if they would to him as well because of his bright hair color. He had dyed his hair and it seemed to make him noticeable himself at times. His chocolate colored orbs narrowed as he watched a girl with white hair move about the ruins. He didn’t want to call out in case she could be dangerous, and also because he feared that they could both end up surrounded by zombies and other disgusting creatures that walked on the earth now that were not alive in his eyes.
He wondered what the girl was doing. She was so curious, but he didn’t want confrontation, so he had found himself following along. If anything, if she would stumble into any trouble he would try to help her out. After all, he didn’t like it when people wandered about alone; especially a girl! He figured that she could probably defend herself, but he wanted to follow just in case something bad were to happen. After all, he didn’t want anyone else to die. It didn’t matter if they were good or bad, he couldn’t stand the thought. So, he carefully followed after the girl hoping that she wouldn’t catch onto his presence or figure out where he was. If he did, he figured that he would have to come clean. However, if she was one of those crazy radicals who slaughtered people for fun like it was some game, he knew and was prepared to have to defend himself!

Lillian didn't have the time to deal with whoever was following her, though she didn't have the time to not deal with them. Obviously something had to be done, but after having slightly altered her route so she went past a building slightly out of her way that had part of a pane of glass still intact allowed her to get a glimpse of behind her without having to actually turn. She went past two windows this way to confirm only one person was following her, though through the grime on the window and the distance, she couldn't make out gender or anything like that.
After returning to her original path, the remnants of a building were closely approaching. The potential strategies for what she could do seemed to be flowing into her mind. She discarded them all as they were too dangerous and she was hoping the building she was about to enter was built when it appeared to have based on the outer appearances of it still left after all the building had gone through.
Sure enough, as she opened the door slowly checking for traps, of which she found none, the building was older. That was probably one of the reasons it was still mostly standing. There was a fairly narrow hallway right at the entrance and the door frame was grandiose enough that she knew her new idea should work.
She went in and stopped as soon as the door shut obscuring her view. She had precious few seconds unless her follower was foolish and didn't think about how opening the door would brighten the inside of the building and alert her that someone else had followed if she was too close.
No, that wouldn't matter since she already knew. Using the narrowness of the hallway, Lillian quickly scaled up the wall and was glad for the vaulted ceilings. They gave her something easy to hold onto while she stood on the top of the door frame waiting for the person to enter behind her. It occurred to her that the only thing that felt heavy at the moment was the rosary hidden beneath he shirt. She held no real fear toward this person which in and of itself elicited fear. Fear was a powerful component to survival, and if she wasn't afraid, her guard wasn't up high enough
Ideas as to her actions after he entered now flowed into her mind. They all distilled down into three basic choices. The first was to drop down attacking the person just as they got far enough ahead of her that she could impart the most force of the attack into their upper back area. That would allow an easy escape or the ability to finish them off. The second main idea was to wait until they got further in and escape undetected. That had merits, but she decided on the third main idea.
After her pursuer got far enough in, she intended to drop silently behind them. Close enough that if they turned to attack after she asked them why they were following her that she could use one of several pressure points to incapacitate them from behind. That or simply stop them from turning if they swung with an arm. Yes, that was what she would do. Let them try and figure out how she got behind them and let them decide if she was worth attacking after all of that. She might have lost her blade and gun, but she never once felt defenseless without them. Hopefully whoever it was wouldn't feel she wasn't a threat without them either. She supposed that she could imply she had a weapon if needed, but was actually hoping to resolve this somewhat peacefully.
Words: 650 Notes: No problems at all, that's why it was left open ^^

"You tell me not to stay. Run away. Oh, I say a little prayer and then I cry. I'm running out of hope and you've run out of time. I say goodbye~" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Seth was a tad on edge as his thoughts seemed to wander as he tried to figure out what he wanted to do next. He had been following after the girl, but he seemed to wonder if she knew that he was right on her trail. Of course, he didn’t mean any harm at all, but he was sure that she would think he had a malicious intent of some sort. He wondered though if she would try to lose him from her trail, or if she simply didn’t know that he was there following.
He assumed that eventually she probably would catch on to him. Right now though, it wasn’t a safe option to let his presence be known. He wasn’t quite sure if this girl would be dangerous or not. It was a frightening thought. Why? It was the apocalypse. Sometimes, you just couldn’t trust a pretty and kind face. Anyone could be different from what they used to be. Everyone didn’t always quite have the intentions that they seemed to play off.
He remembered back to times that were safe before the apocalypse. He had other worries. He had concerns of work, paying off college, and working on assignments and getting them done by their deadline. It seemed that all of that was a mere dream in the past now. It had been something that he had hated at the time, but now they were times that he wished so dearly that he could return to. He wished deep in his heart that he could go back to such simple worries. Those all seemed to be so easy compared to what he had been going through now. All of that was taken for granted back then. Now, he regretted for not taking the past as seriously as he could have. He couldn’t redo it now though.
It was unfortunate, but he was stuck with this fate. This was the road that he had to walk down now and he needed to get through this and survive if he wished to find a future reason to why all of this occurred. It was all complex and he wasn’t quite sure how this started, or even why it had to happen to the human race. It seemed unfair, but he felt deep down that there was a huge reason for the entire outbreak of this curse that consumed the entire planet.
He had watched the girl enter an intricate building and he pondered whether or not to give away the fact that he was following her by entering, or if he should wait outside for her at the doorway. It was a risky decision. He wasn’t sure if this girl was planning anything, so he let a frown cross his lips and his intricate expression fractured and showed a lot of thoughts crossing his face. He was puzzled on what to do. If he made the wrong choice it led to him potentially losing his life. The girl didn’t seem too harmless, but there was always that chance that she was cute and deadly.
She wouldn’t be the first girl for him to come across that had a pretty face but a wicked personality. Even before the apocalypse, girls were like that. They were always so fickle and full of emotions that he didn’t quite understand or like. It seemed that they always tried to attract and bring up unnecessary drama. He had dated a girl who was never truly content with what he had done or him in general. He has always wondered deep down why she had decided to keep him around for so long. He figured it was probably because he had such a pretty face and was so nice that it gained him a small amount of popularity. However, when enough had been enough, he had ended that relationship. In turn, the girl had destroyed his friendships with many people that he had been close with. His small amount of popularity had diminished. He was able to see who his true friends had been at that moment.
His brown eyes narrowed in frustration as he recalled that memory and his slight distaste in women came to mind. He didn’t hate all women. It was just the ones who caused drama where it wasn’t needed, or the ones who liked to make other people suffer. Those people were the worst kind that anyone could meet or let into their lives. They were so twisted and corrupt and only seemed to care about themselves. He hated to be around people who were like that. He had found one girl that he had loved so dearly and who wasn’t like that. His family disapproved of her greatly, but he didn’t care about their thoughts. Unfortunately, he had lost track of her during the commotion when the apocalypse has started. He had no idea where she was now, or what had happened to her. He wished so dearly to find her again, and if not her, then more people who were dear to him.
He took a deep breath, then exhaled it and shut his eyes carefully and then pushed the doors open to peer inside. It seemed like she wasn’t there anymore, or in hiding somewhere and it made him feel a bit anxious and uneasy. He bit his lower lip and tried to see further. When he didn’t see her, he decided to take a guess and enter the building to see if he could find the girl. Hopefully a zombie didn’t get to her first. At least, that was his hope for the moment. However, he wouldn’t hold his breath. In times like these… Bad things seemed to happen. There was no hope for the better when it came to wandering around alone with the potential chance of being surrounded. He hoped that he would find her and that she would be nice. He hoped deep in his heart that there was still hope. Maybe… Just maybe he could find a new survivor to talk with that may want to join him in surviving together. Of course, that was just his simple hope!

Lillian watched the light pour in as her follower opened the door and paused for a moment. She took the hesitation as a good sign, it meant that whoever it was cared about their own safety and had to weigh the pros and cons of continuing pursuit. Unfortunately it wasn’t strong enough to keep them out and she watched what she was sure now to be a male figure. Just like in her mind she waited until he was just a few steps past the door. The closing of the door confirmed that either he was alone or anyone he was with had made an effort to remain quiet. It was a risk, but an acceptable one.
She timed the jump to land on the ground just as the door closed to cover any noise that she might have made, not that she had intended to make any noises in the first place. The shift of air pressure could easily be explained by the closing door as well, though even if detected she felt she was in control. Now was the time to figure out exactly why she was being followed.
“Don’t turn around unless you want your face to become closely acquainted with the wall.”
Lillian paused to see if she would have to go through with the threat. Not an issue in her mind, it wasn’t her head that would be slammed into the wall. After she figured the guy wasn’t going to take any chances she continued.
“Why are you following me, who are the other two people that were with you when I entered and what do you know about the causes of this apocalypse?”
The first question was straightforward and probably expected. The second was to determine whether or not he was alone, and if he wasn’t then how many others there were. Granted, she wouldn’t get an exact number if it was more than a handful unless he came outright and gave her a number. Assuming she assumed he was telling the truth. The third question was not one she expected a real answer to, but if he did know something she didn’t, she wanted to know.
